Uday Chopra to stop acting after Dhoom 3

Actor Uday Chopra has revealed that he is set to give up his acting career after “Dhoom 3″.

“Ok confession time…Dhoom 3 is my swan song…my last film…no I’m not giving up acting…quite the opposite, acting is giving up on me!” Uday wrote on microblogging site Twitter.

The 38-year-old son of filmmaker Yash Chopra forayed into acting with his home production “Mohabbatein” in 2000 along with Jimmy Shergill and Jugal Hansraj.

Uday was later seen in “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai,

”, which also did well at the box office, and has also been a part of successful “Dhoom” franchise. However, his other films failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box-office.

Rumour has it that Yashraj Films are thinking of signing a top Hollywood actress opposite Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3.

If things go as planned we might see Aamir Khan romancing a sexy actress from Hollywood soon. YRF are set to take the Dhoom franchise to the global level with Dhoom 3 that will have Aamir Khan playing the anti-hero.

Aamir has himself vouched that the script of Dhoom 3 is very impressive and it gives YRF all the more reason to reach for international audiences with the action-packed movie. And what better way to do it than have an internationally renowned actress rub her shoulders with Aamir!

Buzz is that a few actresses are under contention, including Penelope Cruz, Natalie Portman and Eva Longoria. Penelope, as you know, is quite a stunner and her Hispanic accent has been a drawcard rather than a shortcoming. Natalie Portman might be tough to rope in provided how her career has peaked after she won the Oscar for her performance in Black Swan this year. Eva Longoria from Desperate Housewives might be a good choice, but she can’t compare to the charm of Penelope Cruz.

After an extensive hunt for a new face for the leading lady for DHOOM:3, which included international aspirants as well, Yash Raj Films is now pleased to announce and confirm that Katrina Kaif will play this role.

The Director, Vijay Krishna Acharya (Victor), along with Aditya Chopra, has made this choice after considerable deliberations. When asked on the selection process, Victor said: “After almost a year of searching for a new face for DHOOM:3, we were still unable to find the perfect debutant to play the lead role. We even reached out to international talent but were still unable to find someone who stood out. Both Adi and I really wanted to be sure that the person we chose would be perfect for the role.

Once we decided to go with a known face and not pursue the new-comer route, Katrina was the obvious choice for all of us. She is someone who we all know will bring tremendous enthusiasm and commitment to the film. The first time pairing of Aamir with Katrina will also certainly add value.”

Apart from Aamir Khan, who plays the anti-hero in the film, both Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue in their now iconic roles of Jai Dixit and Ali.The film will begin shooting end of this year and is slated for a 2012 Christmas release.
